What They Don’t Know
“Finally!” Sakura said quietly to herself. “Lunch!” She was in the process of cramming her books in her locker, when her friends approached her. This is what Sakura and her friends did everyday before lunch - they would all meet at her locker, and walk to lunch together. It just made everything easier so that they wouldn’t take time later looking for each other.
“H-hello again, S-sakura.” Hinata mumbled softly. Sakura smiled, slowly closing her locker. “Ah, wait! Let me check my hair in your mirror!” Ino cried, forcing Sakura’s locker back open. Naruto rolled his eyes in annoyance and grabbed Hinata and Sakura’s hands, leading them to the cafeteria. “Wait! Don’t leave me!” Ino roared, still checking her hair.
“C’mon guys, lets hurry up! She’s annoying! I’d like to spend a single day of lunch without hearing her say, ‘Ooh, does my hair look okay?’ and ‘Oh, my gawd…! Isn’t that guy hot?’ Bleh! The girl needs a life!” Naruto ranted to the two girls behind him, as he shook his head. Sakura laughed, and as did Hinata.
It wasn’t that Sakura didn’t like Ino, because she was nice enough. But it was like what Naruto said - she could get a little annoying sometimes. Sure, she felt bad about leaving her behind, but Ino could handle herself. She would probably find their group later anyway, but still. This was fun.
As Naruto pulled Sakura and Hinata along, all the while still fuming about Ino, Sakura caught a glance at Deidara, whom was sitting with Itachi and Sasori. He had a big pile of food on his plate, and was stuffing tons of it into his mouth at a rapid speed.
“Dude, Deidara, slow down! You’re gonna die from suffocation if you don’t stop eating like that…” Sasori said, loudly enough for Sakura to hear. He was eating speghetti, and was neatly twirling it onto his fork. Itachi however just looked around the cafeteria absently, chewing his food quietly. Then, again, his eyes wandered over to Sakura’s. She never realized how dark and deep his eyes were before…
“Hey, Sakura? Sakura, can you hear me?”
“Eh?” Sakura turned her head to look at her friends, but noticed that they had stopped. “What’s up?”
“Nothing, you’re just acting strange today. And…” Naruto looked at her suspiciously. “Just who were you looking at?”
Sakura blushed furiously. “A-ah, t-that is…nobody! I-I was looking at nobody…!” Then she sighed. “Alright, I was looking at Deidara and his friends. Are you happy now?”
Hinata smiled. “O-oh, I see. S-so, does that mean that you l-like them, S-sakura?”
Sakura blushed even more. “N-no! Just because you look at someone, doesn’t mean that you like them…!”
Hinata and Naruto looked at Sakura apprehensively. “Whatever, Sakura-chan. I’m thinking that you do.”
“What!? How’d you come up with that? I most certainly, do NOT--”
“Hey, Sakura.”
“Oh, what is it now, Deidara? I’m in an engaging conversation with--” Then, turning around, she saw Deidara. Her face turned scarlet.
“Kyaaa! Deidara! What are you doing here?” She asked, covering her face with her hands. Deidara looked at her, confused.
“Well, I thought we both agreed we would meet at lunch time, right? So here I am!” Deidara cried, smiling a crooked smile.
Hinata and Naruto looked at Sakura, eye brows cocked. “Meet at lunch time? Why, Sakura, you never told us any thing about this…” Naruto said.
Hinata nodded. “N-no, you didn’t Sakura. Would you c-care to explain?”
“Ah, no thanks! Deidara and I are just gonna shove off and leave so - bye!”
Then she took Deidara’s hand and let him back towards the table he came from.
